Try racing in Career Mode with your car being stock or as close to stock as you can for a while.
The AI will bring a car to the race that can beat your car, no matter how fast your car is. The trick is to sandbag the opponent. Put small tires on your car or maybe take off the power adder.
In career mode, you just need to barely beat the opponent. Save all your fastest passes for the lobby.
Basically, just keep on barely beating the other guy as long as you can.
There's no need to beat him by bus lengths.
Make sure you do all the Tournaments and Quick Races too!
Also, Test n Tune mode gives you $400 per pass!
